The World Economic Forum held its Annual Meeting in Davos last week and environmental issues took center stage.
Extreme weather, natural disasters and failure to act on climate change pointed to humanity sleepwalking towards disaster.
Although there were many impressive world and corporate leaders present the ones that helped leave an indelible impression were the youngest.
It was stated by Akira Sakano, CEO of Zero Waste Academy in Japan, that younger generations don’t have to stop and think about whether to take action for the environment, ‘it just comes naturally, like breathing”.
As it should be for all of us although this may become the time where youth leads the charge in forcing positive change that saves the planet and in turn all of us.
Greta Thunberg, 15 year-old Environmental Activist motivated the crowd and lit a fire under the attendees when she stated:
“I don’t want your hope.
I don’t want you to be hopeful.
I want you to panic … and act as if the house is on fire.
”
This was a follow up to her compelling speech last month as she stood in front of 190 countries represented at the United Nations COP24 conference in Poland.

The Global Risks Report 2019 clearly stated that there is a worrying precariousness between ignoring environmental risks and human health, economic growth and overall planet and people security.
One of the things we can all do to protect the planet and generate less waste is to Reuse, Restore and Recycle.
Why Replace? Just Encase!
"We haven’t inherited the planet from our parents. We have borrowed it from our children.” Jane Goodall
