Fire Escape – New York Academy of Medicine
New York City
The Challenge:
The fire escape at the New York Academy had chipping and flaking Lead-Based Paint. Knowing that this was a potential hazard for the passersby in the busy neighborhood, they opted for encasement - to lock down and abate the chipping and flaking Lead-Based Paint with minimum surface disturbance.

Results:
GLOBAL Encasement, Inc.’s award winning products met and exceeded all of their requirements. The ease of material application with little preparation resulted in a minimum of disturbance of the Lead-Based Paint. A soft brush was used to remove the loose flaking paint. The System design was then applied. It included R.I.P.™ Rust-Inhibiting Primer to halt and prevent future corrosion, and LeadLock™ Topcoat to lock down and manage-in-place the Lead-Based Paint surfaces. The complete system provided a long-lasting and safe alternative to full containment and complete removal.
