Capitol Park Apartments
Southwest Washington, D.C.
This 320 Unit Apartment Building is in The Capitol Park (r), a community of townhouses and apartment buildings designed by Chloethiel Woodard Smith and Dan Kiley as part of the urban renewal of Southwest Washington, D.C. in the 1950’s and 60’s.
The metal balcony enclosures were in need of repainting and contained Lead-Based Paint. The client wanted a coatings system that would minimize the generation of hazardous debris, be the least disruptive to the tenants, while offering long-term protection from any potential lead hazards.
- Protection From Potential Lead Hazards
- Minimum Downtime
- Minimum Generation of Hazardous Waste
- Cost Effective
- Long-Lasting Solution
A GLOBAL Encasement System was designed for the balcony enclosures that met and exceeded all of the clients needs. Rust was treated with R.I.P.™ Rust-Inhibiting Primer, followed with PrepLESS Primer™ to lock down any loose, flaking paint. Durable, long-lasting LeadLock™ TopCoat formed a seamless monolithic membrane offering 20 Year warranted protection against lead hazards.
