The Challenge: This 240-acre Union Pacific Railyard property is turning into a dynamic urban environment with a 21st century mass transit hub to serve residents, workers and visitors.  At the same time the significance of the area as the birthplace of the western terminus of the 1869 Transcontinental Railroad is being respected and treasured.  Many of the old brick historic buildings are being preserved and will house retail shops and restaurants, hence there is a need to keep the ambiance of the old brick surfaces while waterproofing and sealing the porous brick and grout.

Benefits:

  • Green, Environmentally Advanced Coatings
  • Waterproof, Durable, Breathable
  • Cost Effective Long Term Solution
  • Preserve the Look of weathered red brick
  • Little to no surface preparation

Results: A GLOBAL Encasement System was designed to waterproof the old brick surfaces.  775 gallons of Clear Coat was applied over the porous brick and grout, both interior and exterior, locking out any moisture from further deteriorating the condition of the brick surfaces while maintaining the historic ambiance.
