Surface Preparation Specifications
While the use of GLOBAL Encasement, Inc. products require minimal surface preparation, mold, mildew, calcimine (efflorescence), chalking and rust must be addressed prior to the application of the primers and/or topcoat.
Mold, mildew (fungi)
GLOBAL Encasement, Inc. manufactures three products that can help get rid of mold and mildew.
PremeClean™ is a top quality industrial cleaner concentrate that can "knock down" the mold and mildew prior to the application of DeMOLD™.
DeMOLD™ is an EPA registered Disinfectant/Sanitizer that kills the spores that are left behind.
MOLDon't™ is a high quality topcoat with biostat to prevent mold and mildew from ever coming back.
Calcimine (efflorescence)
Generally this condition is caused by leakage over concrete surfaces causing hydrostatic pressure to force the salts (calcimine) out.
Treatment: Repair the leaks and use a wash of mineral scale remover to clean the surface prior to using our Primers and TopCoats.
Chalking
Treatment: There are three methods to address chalking:
1.PremeClean™ Industrial Biodegradable Cleaner. Rinse thoroughly with water.
2.GE-MPE (Multi Purpose Encapsulant). Wipe over affected surfaces.
3.PrepLESS Primer™. Dilute product anywhere from 50 to 90% and wipe over surface.
The advantage of using either GE-MPE or PrepLESS Primer™ is there is no waste generated and the product has already started to lock down the hazardous material.
Rust
Treatment: Remove all dirt, oil, grease, rust scale and contaminants. Follow with a coat of our PSN-12 Rust-Inhibiting Primer. If heavy corrosion, apply two coats.
Surface Preparation Products
A Water-based rust inhibiting acrylic primer to be applied over ferrous metal surfaces. Suitable for interior or exterior use over metal roof decks, window frames, metal sidewalls, rail cars, pipes and equipment, tank exteriors and structural steel. It is recommended for use with GLOBAL Encasement TopCoats.
PSN-12 Rust-Inhibiting Primer Product Data Sheet
An 80% solids, premium quality, water-based, elastomeric, non-flammable acrylic caulk that contains no solvents. It is excellent for interior or exterior use. Suitable to bridge cracks, fill holes and feather ridges. Maintains outstanding performance characteristics for many years, remaining flexible, weather resistant and well adhered. Available in 3.5-gallon pails or 10 oz. Tubes (10 per case)
GE-15 100% Acrylic Caulk Product Data Sheet
20 mils of gray elastomeric modified butyl rubber adhesive/sealant backed with spun bond polyester fabric, used for sealing seams. Immediate aggressive grip, full bond in 24 hours.
4" x 50' rolls (12 per case).
GE-BST Butyl Seam Tape Product Data Sheet
100% Polyester Fabric with outstanding physical strength properties, quick wet-out and saturation characteristics, unique elongation features and ease of handling and application for use with Global Encasement's coatings. 20" x 324' (other widths available)
