Two simple ways to decrease risk of lead dust and lead poisoning if you suspect your building surfaces contain lead based paint is to always treat them as if they do. Use good housekeeping practices and don’t allow dust to collect on your window trim, sills, woodwork, and floors..and never dry sand them when you are preparing to paint.
It is always recommended to use a certified lead encapsulant when painting suspect surfaces.
