- 01. Where can I purchase GLOBAL Encasement, Inc. products?
- GLOBAL Encasement Inc.'s products are sold factory direct in most areas. To order call (800) 266-3982. Have your credit card ready and most orders received before 2:30 PM Eastern Standard Time can be shipped the same day. Products are packaged in 5-gallon pails or 55-gallon drums.
- 02. Do I have to be a contractor to purchase GLOBAL Encasement, Inc. Products?
- No, homeowners or the general public are free to purchase GLOBAL Encasement, Inc.'s products. However, most states require that anyone who does work intended to reduce or remove lead hazards (lead abatement) must be trained and certified by the appropriate local, state or federal agency.
Removing lead paint is very dangerous because it produces paint chips, dust, and fumes that contain lead. Covering lead paint can also cause dangerous levels of lead dust.
Exceptions: The law makes an exception for homeowners. Homeowners do not have to be trained or certified to remove lead paint from their homes. The exception only applies to a four unit dwelling or less that the homeowner owns and lives in.
- 03. Renovating an older home or apartment can be dangerous if it is not done properly. Anytime you disturb hazardous paint or building materials you run the risk of releasing dust or fibers into the air affecting air quality and producing undesired results. Why do GLOBAL Encasement, Inc. products make it possible to do abatement and renovations without running this risk?
- GLOBAL Encasement, Inc. manufactures and sells a product know as PrepLESS Primer™. This product can be used instead of typical paint preparation and has been proven to eliminate dust and fiber release into the air. The product dries tacky and will actually allow you to back-roll loose and flaking paint chips back onto the wall, reducing any actions that would likely release dust into the air or produce hazardous waste. The product also effectively shrink-wraps the surface it is being applied over which makes it an excellent primer for use over friable or deteriorating asbestos containing building materials.
- 04. Do GLOBAL Encasement, Inc. products provide a finished surface or do I provide a finished coat after the system has been installed?
- GLOBAL Encasement, Inc. TopCoats are finish coatings manufactured in bright white and can be custom tinted to almost any color using the universal tint system.
- 05. During renovations plaster or stucco along with a variety of other similar products are often used to patch damaged areas. How long should I let these products dry (cure) before the application of an GLOBAL Encasement, Inc. system?
- A rule of thumb is to allow any new plaster, stucco, concrete or cement to cure at least 30 days before our products are applied. Temperature and humidity will also determine how long it would take the surface to dry. We recommend the use of a moisture tester to determine when the surface is dry.
- 06. How long can I expect a properly applied GLOBAL Encasement, Inc. system to last?
- Our warranty states that GLOBAL Encasement, Inc.'s systems shall be free of manufacturer defects for a period of twenty years. We fully expect a properly applied and cured system to last in excess of twenty years and the products are renewable, meaning that when it is time to renew your system all that would be required beyond building maintenance is re-application of the TopCoat.
- 07. What does LEED mean?
- LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It is the acronym that refers to the Green Building Rating System developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to help encourage a reduction in energy usage and mitigate waste streams over the life of a building.
