The Challenge: This 1839 Greek Revival style former Presbyterian Church was being converted to a multi-use community facility for the town of Nyack. All of the exterior surfaces were in a hazardous condition, covered with badly delaminated Lead-Based Paint, that left the building exposed to weatherization and water damage. In addition, one façade was less than a foot from the street and would create a containment challenge during abatement.

In addition to the abatement containment challenge, officials were concerned that any sandblasting or removal methods would adversely affect the fragile historic architectural details.
