Location: Monterey, CA

Products:AsbestoSafe® and PrepLESS Primer

The Challenge: Transite siding on the Granite Canyon Marine Pollution Studies Laboratory contained Asbestos which needed to be managed in-place. It was crucial that no hazardous materials be generated during the abatement process. Also, because the structure was located right on the coast, it was important that the waterproof coatings exhibit good chemical resistance due to the salt spray and high U.V. Exposure.

Benefits Desired:

  • Class A Fire-Rated
  • Long-Lasting Solution
  • No Surface Preparation
  • Impact, Abuse and Chemical Resistant
  • Cost Effective

Results: GLOBAL Encasement's Class A Fire Rated PrepLESS Primer and AsbestoSafe® TopCoat Encasement System was designed to encase the Transite wall panels. No surface preparation was needed and the airless spray process did not disturb the fibers, thereby eliminating the need for containment, other than overspray protection.
